Campaign Comments

--This page is now an open discussion forum; I will be posting campaign updates regularly in the comments--

At the Presidential Campaign level, an interesting site for general information is http://2012.republican-candidates.org/

Michelle Bachman

Acclaimed as a tea party favorite, voted no on the debt deal, and noted that we are moving in the same direction as Greece.

Herman Cain

An able businessman, but presently running in circles due to his comments on muslims.

Mitt Romney

A moderate with the same strong qualifications and ability to beat Obama as McCain had; he approved and signed into law the model for Obamacare.

Sarah Palin

Not running, but a lightningrod for haters of traditional America; there's a new "documentary" that will probably be somewhat revisionist, and not worth your time -- want to bet it's timed to release just in case she wants to run?

There are others, but we will begin here.

Meanwhile, for those living in an alternate reality,

Barack Hussein Obama

Favored by those who want to better the lives of us little people by bringing us the benefits of socialism (i.e., bread lines and rationing,), has now been officially endorsed by the Communist Party USA.

Kansas Governor Brownback is the second Governor, after Oklahoma, to return the Federal bribe (grant) to start converting the state system to Obamacare.

  1. Romney got "ambushed" last month by liberal protestors who claim Republicans will slash Social Security -apparently those Obama fans didn't notice that Obamacare cut their benefits by over $638 Billion. It's the Republicans' fault!

Texas Gov. Perry entered the Presidential race Saturday, August 13, missing the Iowa Straw poll, and he is raising some eyebrows.

Michele Bachman won the Iowa Straw Poll, and although Romney was on the ballot, he didn't lose because he chose not to campaign in Iowa.

Winning the Straw poll has shown Bachman is a serious contender, but the latest nationwide polls put Perry in first place.

Representative Paul Ryan has announced he will not run for President. Paul Ryan is a well-intentioned fellow who would dilute the conservative vote if he had run, and the GOP would end up with Romney, who in the general election would draw voters with a power not seen since McCain!

Tea Party leaders call on Obama after Rep. Waters' attack on Tea Party- asking him to help cool the rhetoric. Don't expect much; after all, it's "passion" when the Dems do it, it's only "angry" if conservatives engage in rhetoric.

Interesting article on campaign strategy against Perry. In an interview, NY Times columnist David Brooks suggests that Perry's character be attacked if it turns out that he actually does hold conservative ideals.

  5. Bachmann, at the CNN debate, brought up Perry's Executive Order mandating Gardasil shots for all Texas schoolgirls (from a big campaign donor, Merck). She and Palin implied that Perry is a "crony capitalist." I still think Bachmann is more like Reagan, and holds more of American foundational views. Perry seems more like Bush - a good guy with basic integrity, but more ready to wheel and deal to protect the well-to-do.

Romney just seems like Obama in a Republican suit. I still maintain Romney has all the power to carry an election that McCain had, and all the leadership potential of an Obama. ("What do the polls say to do? flip-flop; flip-flop, flip-flop)

It may very well be, too, that the Democrats could run Hillary. Obama isn't doing that well with his core, HARD-left constituency, and there is no iron-clad guarantee that he will get to run without a primary.

  6. Panic! That's CNN's advice to Obama today, from James Carville, a Democratic strategist, no less

Don't you think the DNC is beginning to wonder if Obama is a viable candidate for re-election with his ratings plunging?

  7. It's out in the open now. Liberals have been grumbling about Obama's failure to ram through hard-left policies, and they are now saying there will be primary challengers to Obama.

Even more to the pointed is a Chicago Tribune column telling Obama to withdraw his bid for re-election altogether!

  8. New polls are showing that, as the media views it, even Sarah Palin is gaining ground on Obama. Obama is increasingly looking less viable, as apparently almost all GOP contenders are gaining ground.

  9. The latest Republican debate highlighted some of the difficulties faced by the GOP early in the race. Perry, Bachman, Cain and the other Tea Party friendly candidates are slugging it out-

Cain won the Florida Straw Poll, and probably the debate.
    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/09/24/perry-says-rivals-made-mistake-by-skipping-florida-test-vote/

Bachmann came in with only a small percentage in Florida, but has done well in national polls, and won in Iowa.

Perry made a big splash, but the more he talks, the more he looks like Bush rather than Reagan. http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheats/2011/09/24/perry-defends-debate-performance.html

All the while Romney, the "Liberal-Lite" darling of the left-leaning Establishment GOP, cruises along in second or third place, presenting the real threat that the GOP will find itself repeating the 2008 election experience- real liberal vs. liberal lite.

  10. Mitt Romney won the Michigan Straw Poll, and his supporters are claiming it shows he is the GOP frontrunner. Could be, but MI is his home state.

Also, Michigan has gone Democrat for the past 4 Presidential elections. Romney seems best able to attract Republicans in liberal states that don't vote Republican anyway. GO McCAIN?

  11. On the President's recent campaign trip to California, Washington, and Colorado, the President's team gave the Press credentials which highlighted CA, WA, and - Wyoming. http://politics.blogs.foxnews.com/2011/09/28/western-woes-white-house-mixes-colorado-wyoming?test=latestnews

If they had consulted Mr. Obama's map, this could have been avoided; it has all 57 states, plus Alaska and Hawaii, on it.
